Church Government
The form of government of the West Chicago Bible Church is congregational, in that the Elders, Deacons, and Purpose coordinators are confirmed by the active membership of the church. Final authority rests in the congregation; delegated authority rests in the leaders. When not in session, the congregation commits to follow its chosen leaders. When officially gathered, it fills the role of final authority over its leaders.
Specifically, approval of the congregation is required for:
• Approval of, or amendments, to the Constitution and By-Laws;
• Calling or dismissal of members of the pastoral staff;
• Approval of the annual budget;
• Selection or dismissal of elders, deacons, and purpose coordinators;
• Approval of acquisition or selling of building and land properties, and renovations;
• Approval of commissioning, licensing, or ordination of persons deemed qualified to enter the ministry, as determined by the elders.
The elders, including the Senior Pastor, serve as the Official Board.
