Pastor Tod’s Birthday
Water’s Edge Bible Church is blessed to have the young, inspirational, and energetic Tod Eenigenburg as our senior pastor. Sharing his mortality with the rest of us, his seniority is increasing day by day. He still brings his “A” game every week, but he may be half a step slower after turning XXXIX on December 8. We all celebrated with him by sharing a birthday cake on Sunday, December 9.

Second Annual Youth Spaghetti Dinner and Talent Show
The spaghetti dinner was a great success! Thanks to all who came out and donated. This opportunity is great for most of us kids. The main point for the money was to help us go to Timber-lee at the end of February. I know that if it weren’t for all of your support some of us would not be able to make the trip. Those that came may not have understood one of the acts on stage, “Avocado is the name of the game….” This is just a little game that we students like to play during free time on Wednesday nights. The whole point is not to mess up and if you do then you have to come up with a new word. This is especially fun when you have over 12 people trying to play. We had such a great time planning this night, and performing was so much fun! Thanks again to all of you who came and contributed. Hope to see you again next year!

Response: And thank you, all you Edgers who participated! Those of us who came were served royally, entertained completely and impressed mightily. Spaghetti and meatballs, breadsticks, and platters of finger desserts encircled by an art show of your creations gave us great glimpses into who you are. And that talent show, well, the magic, the music and the merriness filled our hearts with glimpses of who you will become. (Loved that Avocado!) We appreciate you and know the church-to-come is in good hands. May you meet God in a new way at Timber-Lee.

Missions Focus Many Tasks – One Goal |
|
Hecklers call out from the gathered crowd as Dan Truitt, missionary with Open Air Campaigners, sketches a presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ before unbelieving, resistant Greeks. Yet some stay, ask questions, receive a New Testament in Greek and become objects of prayer. Combined with literature evangelism and personal witness, Greeks are reached for Christ. |
|
Working with youth, who can also be resistant, Jorge Torres's passion for reaching them with the Jesus he loves is evident. Enlisting a young man, Jose LLofra, whose zeal matches his own, plans are in the works to repeat an event called Espai Sense Nom (place without a name) in places where youths gather. This event involves drama, sports, and music with evangelism opportunities. God is very evidently working in the hearts of youth attracted to this activity in Spain. |

Accomplishing the necessary work of missionary recruitment and overseeing the mission work of AIM-Australia (African Inland Mission) takes special gifts. These gifts are found in Jonathan and Dottie Hildebrandt. Having served in this capacity for four years, the Hildebrandts are currently on an equally necessary year's home assignment in the U.S. |
|
Who better to give the training necessary for jungle flying than a seasoned jungle flier? Doug Deming, with his 30 years of personal experience in safe navigation of the skies over the jungle, passes on this knowledge to young pilots who are anxious to serve the Lord on the mission field. Because of his years in Peru with Wycliffe's JAARS division, there are not many problems he has not encountered in God's strength. |

These four areas were presented to WEBC in a Missions Focus weekend last November. From a Men's Breakfast to a multicultural progressive dinner (progressing from room-to-room), these missionaries presented their victories, struggles, and passion for the future of their ministry in their respective lands, each one longing that the people they serve would come to know Christ, and giving God the glory for victories won.
West Chicago Bible Church has been a strong missions church for most of its existence. Supported missionaries and organizations bring aid and/or education and, most importantly, the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are down and out, to children, families, and adults, and to those in, or desiring, training for ministry at home and abroad. However, the God-ordained merge of WCBC and WEC has brought a rounding-out to our missions focus. The Water's Edge passion for the people of Uganda has extended our reach to large numbers of those in great physical need, those without families, those too young to defend themselves, all in desperate need for help for body and soul. Our “many tasks” have been stretched. You can see a complete list of all the missionaries we support here: WEBC Missionaries. |
